Position
Description:
A teacher at MLKCSE holds primary responsibility for instructional planning and execution of the curriculum, monitoring growth and success of students. Classes range around 20 students capped grades are self‑contained and responsible for core subjects and small‑group intervention. The school uses a co‑teaching model in Kindergarten and First Grade; in grades 2‑5 instructional paraprofessionals are assigned based on class needs. As a full‑inclusion school, special educators provide push‑in support during core blocks and pull‑out instruction during intervention times.
- Submit daily attendance
- Manage student breakfast in the classroom
- Thoughtfully plan, refine, and/or supplement core curricular resources
- Provide dynamic, creative, high‑quality instruction aligned to MLKCSE guidance, Common Core State Standards, and Massachusetts Frameworks
- Maintain timely grading of students
- Collaborate with special educators, ESL educators, and instructional leaders to ensure targeted interventions and support
- Participate in collaborative curriculum development, grade‑level activities, meetings, PD, and school‑wide functions
- Administer assessments, record and submit data, address findings, and integrate data to refine curriculum and instruction
- Participate in regular interim data meetings with grade‑level team teachers and instructional leadership
- Identify students not meeting benchmarks and plan appropriate interventions, tiered small‑group or one‑on‑one support
- Uphold school values, key systems, and accountability systems for academics and character
- Provide consistent high academic and behavioral expectations
- Communicate clearly, effectively, and professionally with students, families, and colleagues regularly
- Consistently meet school expectations for professionalism and fulfill responsibilities in a timely manner
- Fulfill other duties as assigned
- Report to the Academic Director or Executive Director
- Bachelor's Degree
- Preliminary MA teaching certification or working toward earning MA teaching certification
- SEI or RETELL endorsement
- Experience preferred, particularly in an urban setting
- Bilingual (Spanish) candidates encouraged to apply
