Part-time ESOL Teacher

Center for New Americans seeks an ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) teacher for our level 1-3 morning class in Springfield. Classes meet Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday mornings from 9:15 to 11:15.
Monday and Thursday classes are online. Tuesday classes are in person. Classes meet September through mid‑June. Successful candidates will have experience teaching at the beginner level in person and on Zoom. Teachers work 13.5 hours per week which includes teaching, preparation, and hours for meetings and administrative tasks including attendance data entry. Compensation is between $27 and $28.30/hour depending on experience.

Successful candidates will:

• have a TESOL certificate and/or equivalent degree;
• have experience teaching adult ESOL students in a community based setting including beginning‑level and pre‑literate students and experience with differentiation for a range of learners;
• have experience integrating technology into ESOL instruction, and teaching ESOL online using the Zoom platform;
• have experience planning lessons which align with DESE (the Mass. Department of Elementary & Secondary Education) MA ELPS and following a Scope Sequence;
• be open to peer mentoring and close collaboration with other teachers, program advisors, and volunteers;
• assess and document students’ participation and progress.
