Responsibilities- Meet and instruct assigned classes in designated locations and times.
- Plan a program of study that meets individual students’ needs, interests and abilities.
- Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for students’ maturity and interests.
- Guide learning toward district curriculum goals, establish clear objectives for lessons, units and projects.
- Prepare for classes and provide written evidence of preparation upon supervisor request.
- Employ variety of instructional techniques and media consistent with location and students’ needs.
- Implement district’s philosophy of education, instructional goals and performance expectations.
- Assess student accomplishments regularly; provide progress reports and communicate with parents as needed.
- Maintain accurate, complete and correct records as required by law, district policy and regulations.
- Diagnose student learning challenges regularly; seek assistance from district specialists as required.
- Takes necessary precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities.
- Follow the SPS code of conduct, develop classroom behavior rules enforced fairly.
- Plan and supervise assignments for paraprofessionals; provide written evaluations.
- Maintain a professional growth program satisfying district requirements and personal expectations.
- Participate in teacher evaluation process; contribute to evaluation result agreement.
- Attend building and district meetings to promote communication and decision making.
- Attend traditional school-sponsored activities (Back to School Night, Open House, programs).
- Contribute to district and building decisions on budget, facilities, curriculum and personal well‑being.
- Continuously strive to maintain and improve professional competence.
- Highly qualified with required competency in the content area.
- Appropriate content/program area educator license (Teacher of Students with Moderate Disabilities) and grade level (5–12) licensure from the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.
- Bachelor’s Degree with appropriate license; or
- Master’s Degree with appropriate content area license preferred and/or expected within 5 years.

Salary: $56,450.40 to $91,347.60 BU Salary Schedule
