Position Details
Springfield Public Schools – Benjamin Swan Elementary. Summer school paraprofessional for MLL Elementary. Salary per Paraprofessional Contract. Funding Source:
Title III.
Work schedule:
8:30 AM – 3:30 PM.
- Report to the building principal.
- Assist teachers in all classroom activities.
- Assist with thematic planning approach.
- Participate in planning and implementation program for ESL, including WIDA standards for English language development.
- Assist in selecting, developing, and distributing teacher materials for the program.
- Breakfast and Lunch duty.
- Afternoon bus duty.

- High expectations for student behavior and performance.
- A strong focus on setting and achieving ambitious goals.
- Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced environment and remain calm under pressure.
- Proven track record of high achievement.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including public speaking.
- Humility in the face of success.
- Drive to improve student minds and lives inside and outside classroom.
- High‑school diploma or GED.
- Sixty (60) credit hours of college coursework or an Associate’s degree, or a passing score on one of the following formalized assessments:
- Para Pro Assessment (http://(Use the "Apply for this Job" box below).)
- Work Keys Certificate of Proficiency for Teacher Assistants (http://)
- Current authorization to work in the United States; must have such authorization by first day of employment.
- Passing scores on Work Keys Exams:
- Reading: 5
- Math: 4
- Writing: 3
