Position: Faculty, Criminal Justice (Security Management), Full-Time, Tenure-Track

Overview

The Criminal Justice Department seeks a dynamic and engaged educator for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position beginning in Fall 2027. This faculty member specializes in Security Studies will possess the demonstrated ability to teach courses in homeland security, terrorism, and emergency management. The successful candidate will contribute to a vibrant academic community by teaching a range of foundational undergraduate courses such as criminal justice ethics, criminal law, statistics, research methods, theory, policing, courts, corrections, and global crime and justice, as well as courses within the graduate program.

Duties and Responsibilities

Candidates are required to perform duties in accordance with the MSCA contract. Duties include teaching, advising, scholarship and contributions to continuously improve the department and university. The standard teaching load is 12 credit hours per semester. The position is subject to available funding.

Required Qualifications
  • PhD in criminal justice or closely related field, or ABD with doctorate conferred by August 2027.
  • Experience in and the demonstrated ability to teach in areas of Security Studies, including Homeland Security, Terrorism, and Emergency Management.
  • Experience in and the demonstrated ability to teach a variety of core courses within the undergraduate program such as criminal justice ethics, criminal law, statistics, theories, research methods, policing, courts, corrections and global crime and justice, as well as the graduate program in criminal justice.
  • Evidence of successful teaching experience at the college/university level.
  • Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience teaching face-to-face, hybrid, and online courses.
  • Experience in distance learning and instructional technologies.
  • Experience serving as role a model and mentor for students from a variety of backgrounds and experiences.
  • Evidence of scholarly research in Security Management and/or Criminal Justice issues.
