Role Description The Commerce Math Teacher is a full-time, on-site position based in the Springfield, Massachusetts Metropolitan Area. This role involves planning and delivering engaging mathematics lessons with a focus on commercial, business, and real-world applications. Day-to-day responsibilities include designing standards-aligned lesson plans, teaching courses such as business math, applied algebra, and related commerce-focused subjects, assessing student progress, and providing timely feedback.
The teacher will collaborate with colleagues on curriculum development, participate in department and school-wide meetings, and maintain clear communication with students, families, and counselors. Additional duties include classroom management, supporting learners with varied needs, and contributing to school initiatives and extracurricular activities as needed.
Qualifications
- Strong foundation in Mathematics and Mathematics Education, with the ability to connect concepts to commerce and real-world contexts.
- Demonstrated experience in Lesson Planning and Curriculum Development aligned with state standards and school objectives.
- Status as a Qualified Teacher, including appropriate teaching certification or licensure for secondary math (or ability to obtain it within required timelines).
- Effective classroom management skills and the ability to create an inclusive, respectful learning environment for diverse student populations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts clearly.
- Proficiency in using educational technology, learning management systems, and data to inform instruction.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Mathematics Education, Education, or a related field; advanced degree is an advantage.
- Experience teaching at the high school level and familiarity with commerce or business-focused curricula is preferred.
