Location: Wokingham, Berkshire Hours: 22 hours per week Start Date: September 2026 Duration: Full academic year Contract: Part-Time, Ongoing

Are you a patient, compassionate and experienced Learning Mentor who enjoys helping young people build confidence, independence and essential life skills?

We are currently looking for a dedicated Learning Mentor to support young boys requiring EOTAS provision in Wokingham, helping them prepare for adulthood and become more confident and independent within their local community.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who wants to do more than simply provide academic support. You will play an important role in helping young people develop the practical skills, confidence and independence they need for everyday life.

You will work closely with the young people on a one-to-one basis, supporting them to develop their confidence and become more comfortable navigating their local community.

• Develop confidence using public transport
• Visit local shops, cafés and community facilities
• Develop communication and social skills
• Build confidence when trying new things
• Develop practical life skills and greater independence
• Prepare for adulthood and life beyond education
• Build a positive and trusting relationship with the young person

The role is particularly suited to someone who is patient, encouraging and able to build strong relationships with young people. You will become a familiar and supportive face, helping them take small but meaningful steps towards greater independence.

We are looking for someone who:

• Has previous experience working with young people
• Has experience supporting pupils with SEND and/or SEMH
• Is patient, approachable and compassionate
• Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Is confident supporting young people within the community
• Can encourage independence without taking over
• Understands that progress can happen through small, consistent steps
• Is reliable and committed to the full academic year

Previous experience as a Learning Mentor, Teaching Assistant, Support Worker, Youth Worker, Behaviour Mentor or similar would be highly beneficial.
