After Dark Program Paraprofessionals

Job Goal:
To help students learn subject matter and skills that will contribute to their development as mature, able, responsible, and productive citizens.

  • Responsible to the District-Wide Director of Chapter 74 Technical Programs; work collaboratively with district level administrators.
  • Conduct classes for qualifying students in your specific content area and provide additional assistance to students as needed.
  • Work with the content area Directors in implementing the After Dark Program.
  • Knowing the MA Curriculum Frameworks for the content area applying;
    Automotive Technology, Health Assisting, Metal Fabrication, Cosmetology, Support Services & Networking, and Advanced Manufacturing.
  • Ensure that direct teacher instructional support is being provided to all students (general education, special education, 504, ELL).
  • Provide grade assignments and prompt, frequent, ongoing, and consistent instructional feedback to students.
  • Maintain and record student grades and ensure that these are submitted to the Director, Building Principal, and Guidance Department so that student grades are updated in Power School.
  • Work collaboratively to maintain and record attendance records in Power School.
  • Hold family and student conferences when needed.
  • Contact families and students via phone, e-mail, letter to ensure Program participation and completion.
  • Work collaboratively with the Director, Principal, family/guardian, Guidance Counselor to address issues of student attendance and Program completion.
  • Manage and maintain attendance logs, enrollment roster; create and maintain student folders.
  • Manage and maintain data, i.e. attendance, course completion, pre/post assessments, progress, surveys, etc., to document the implementation of the Program.
  • Complete any other data requests and data reports as it relates to the successful implementation of the Program.
  • Help supervise students during arrival and dismissal from the Program.
  • Work collaboratively with the other members of the team to ensure that the Program is successful.
  • Foster a positive learning environment.
  • Qualifications:

      • Sixty (60) Credit Hours of College Coursework or an Associate's Degree, or a passing score on one of the two following Formalized Standardized Assessments:
      Para Pro Assessment or Work Keys Certificate of Proficiency for Teacher Assistants; and
      • Current authorization to work in the United States – A candidate must have such authorization by his or her first day of employment.
