Job Description

Elementary Special Education Teacher (K–5)

Help every child access their full potential and make sure no learner gets left behind.

Do you believe that with the right support, every student can grow? We're looking for a passionate, dedicated special educator who's ready to be a fierce advocate for young learners, tailor instruction to individual needs, and help kids build the skills and confidence to thrive alongside their peers.

This is a full-inclusion K–5 role where you'll be a vital partner in your students' success. You'll provide push-in support during core academic blocks and lead targeted pull-out instruction during intervention time, meeting each child where they are and moving them forward. You'll never do this work alone: you'll collaborate closely with classroom teachers, ESL specialists, and instructional leaders who share your commitment to seeing every student succeed.

What you'll do

  • Design and deliver individualized, high-quality instruction that helps students access grade-level content aligned to Common Core and state standards
  • Develop, implement, and monitor IEPs, setting meaningful goals and tracking progress toward them
  • Provide both push-in support within the general education classroom and pull-out instruction during intervention blocks
  • Use assessment data to shape your teaching and target support where it's needed most
  • Build tiered, small-group, and one-on-one interventions to close gaps and accelerate growth
  • Partner with grade-level teams and general education teachers through co-planning, data meetings, and professional development
  • Set and uphold high expectations for both academics and character, every single day
  • Build genuine, ongoing relationships with students, families, and colleagues through clear, professional communication
  • Stay on top of the details that matter: documentation, timelines, compliance, and the daily rhythms of the classroom

What you bring

  • State teaching certification in Special Education (Moderate Disabilities or equivalent), or active progress toward earning it
  • SEI or RETELL endorsement

Even better if you have

  • Special education experience, especially in an urban setting
  • Fluency with IEP development and progress monitoring
  • Spanish/English bilingual skills strongly encouraged to apply

Why this role

You'll join a mission-driven community that treats teaching as both a craft and a calling one that invests in your growth, backs you with a real support team, and gives your work the meaning it deserves. If you're ready to be a champion for students who need one, we'd love to hear from you.

We are an equal opportunity employer. We celebrate diversity and are committed to building an inclusive environment where all applicants are considered without regard to race, color, religion, national origin, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, disability, veteran status, or any other protected characteristic.
