Springfield students deserve better than a system that prevents you from upholding the standards they need.
Alpha is opening a new campus in this city, and we're looking for a leader who knows the local educational landscape firsthand. You will manage a team of 15+ Guides who coach and motivate students, while our EdTech platform delivers all instruction. No traditional teaching. High-impact leadership. Clear execution.
Your objective: make sure every student loves school, learns at twice the pace of conventional classrooms, and develops essential life skills. This is not a conventional Principal position. You will maintain rigorous standards, make decisions grounded in data, and establish Springfield's highest-performing school from the start.
Lead through data. Coach for excellence.
What You Will Be Doing- Launch the Springfield, MA campus:
Execute Alpha's three core promises for 100+ students from day one, ensuring operational excellence in every area. - Facilitate live workshops teaching life skills to K-8 students:
Lead engaging one-hour sessions covering public speaking, growth mindset, and feedback skills. Use Alpha's proven playbook to help students master competencies that traditional schools overlook - while keeping it fun. - Drive every student to reach 100% of their goals:
Create personalized motivational strategies for each child. Apply data-driven methods to address resistance and sustain engagement with the Alpha platform. Success is defined by every student meeting their targets. - Coach Guides to high performance and uphold Alpha's quality standards:
Leverage data to spot performance issues, provide clear feedback, and monitor progress. Make difficult decisions when performance doesn't meet expectations, and model the standard on your campus. - Lead campus operations using data:
Evaluate performance across team, operations, parent engagement, and campus culture. Identify challenges, perform root cause analysis, engage stakeholders, implement trackable improvements, and refine based on outcomes.
- Teaching or tutoring students. Alpha's self-guided EdTech platform drives learning, not adult-led lectures.
- Creating lesson plans or curriculum. Alpha's playbook already exists. You execute and lead, not design instruction.
- Overseeing budgets or staff hiring. Finance and recruiting are managed centrally. Your focus is campus performance and culture.
- Serving as the content expert. This role is 80% leadership and engagement, 20% education. You inspire; the platform teaches.
Key Responsibilities
Fulfill Alpha's three commitments: every student loves school, learns at double the speed, and masters critical life skills — launching and leading a new Springfield campus from day one.
Basic Requirements- Bachelor's degree in Education, Psychology, Business, or related field. Master's preferred.
- At least 7 years of experience in education, learning and development, coaching, business, or related field.
- Demonstrated experience building and leading teams of at least 15 people with full hiring and firing authority.
- In-depth knowledge of the Springfield, MA education landscape.
- Experience working with youth ages 5 – 14.
- Strong data analysis skills and proven ability to use metrics for decision-making and continuous improvement.
- Passion for transforming education. Conviction that the traditional system is fundamentally broken.
- Startup mindset: thrives under pressure, adaptable in new situations, comfortable building systems from scratch.
- Engaging and dynamic speaker who can command the attention of large groups of students or staff.
- Able to connect with K-8 students, understand their interests and culture, and act as a positive role model.
- Legally authorized to work in the United States.
