Vocational Technical Education Teacher

Teach the following Vocational Technical Education Framework Strands:

Safety and Health Knowledge
Technical Standards Knowledge and Skills

Management and Entrepreneurship
Technology

Job Goal:
To help students learn subject matter and skills that will contribute to their development as mature, able, responsible, and productive citizens.

Responsibilities include:

Meeting and instructing assigned classes

Planning a program of study

Creating a conducive classroom environment

Guiding the learning process

Preparing for classes

Employing instructional techniques

Implementing the district's philosophy of education

Assessing student accomplishments

Maintaining accurate records

Diagnosing learning challenges

Taking precautions to protect students

Following a code of conduct

Planning and supervising paraprofessionals

Maintaining professional competence

Qualifications:

Associate Degree or equivalent

Five years of recent, full-time employment experience directly related to trade shop and state trade/union license

Passing score of at least 70% on the written and performance tests for Licensure

Passing score on the Vocational Technical Literacy (VTLST) and the Communication and Literacy Skills Test (Hospitality Management 9-12)
