Overview
Location: New England (Regional Projects)
A leading Northeast electrical contractor is seeking an experienced Rail & Transit Project Manager to support the delivery of complex public transportation and rail infrastructure projects. This role will focus on managing electrical systems within active rail environments, supporting major transit authorities and long-term capital programs.
The ideal candidate brings a strong background in electrical construction, rail/transit projects, and working in live operational environments with strict safety, quality, and schedule requirements.
Key Responsibilities- Manage rail & transit electrical construction projects from preconstruction through closeout
- Oversee project scope, schedule, budget, and cost forecasting
- Coordinate with transit authorities, utilities, engineers, and internal field teams
- Manage subcontractors, material procurement, and workforce planning
- Lead safety planning and execution in live-rail and outage-driven environments
- Support change management, RFIs, submittals, and progress reporting
- Participate in project planning, phasing, and outage coordination
- Ensure compliance with owner standards, contract requirements, and quality programs
- Traction power substations and distribution
- Signal power and electrical infrastructure
- Stations, yards, and wayside facilities
- Duct banks, manholes, and cable systems
- Commissioning, testing, and cutover activities
- 5+ years of project management experience in electrical construction
- Rail, transit, or utility infrastructure experience strongly preferred
- Experience working with public agencies (MBTA, Amtrak, MTA, etc.) a plus
- Strong understanding of electrical systems, construction sequencing, and field operations
- Proven ability to manage multiple stakeholders and complex schedules
- Proficient in project controls, cost tracking, and reporting tools
- Long-term rail & transit backlog with stable, multi-year programs
