Systems Engineer, Electrical Engineering
Eversource’s Resilience and Reliability group focuses on implementing a data-driven strategy to invest in strengthening the electric transmission and distribution grid to mitigate and adapt to climate change and to enable a modern, digital, and decarbonized grid. The Senior Engineer position addresses key challenges such as climate impacts, electrification, and renewable energy integration, requiring a shift in utility planning, budgeting, and operations with resilience and reliability at the core of grid modernization and decarbonization.
The ideal candidate will be highly experienced in distribution system modeling, with a strong understanding of resilience and reliability, and interested in shaping Eversource’s long-term strategies through data and model-driven approaches. Responsibilities include proposing programs and projects aligned with strategic goals, with a customer-centric focus. This role involves cross-functional collaboration with groups like Distribution Engineering, Vegetation Management, Electric Operations, and Regulatory, and offers opportunities for presentations internally and externally, such as at IEEE.
This is a hybrid role, with the first three months in the office full-time.
Essential Functions:Licenses/Certifications:
- Deep knowledge of electric distribution systems, planning, and requirements.
- Experience with distribution power flow models, familiarity with Synergi preferred; risk-based and probabilistic analysis is a plus.
- Understanding of distribution reliability and resiliency technologies and solutions.
- Strong analytical skills and ability to solve complex problems, with a focus on excellence and accountability.
- Ability to align resilience and reliability strategies with utility goals.
- Effective cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Excellent presentation skills.
- Proficiency in Python, with experience in automation and software simulations preferred; knowledge of other programming languages is beneficial.
- Understanding of regulatory environments and a customer-first approach.
- Intermediate Excel skills, including VBA;
Power-BI experience is a plus.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a relevant quantitative field required.
- Advanced degree preferred.
- Minimum of five years in Distribution Engineering or Planning within a utility or related field; advanced degrees may supplement experience.
- Availability for emergency restoration work as needed.
- Travel between MA/CT/NH as required.
- Competitive total rewards, with salary range $117,400 - $130,440, plus incentive, commensurate with experience.
