About the Role
We're looking for an Interconnection Manager, Sr. on behalf of our client. This is an 11‑month contract assignment (W-2) in the Mid‑Continent Independent System Operator (MISO) and Southwest Power Pool (SPP) generator interconnection processes. You will oversee the full life cycle of development and construction of projects, playing a key role in successful new generating asset growth within the MISO and SPP regions.
As an experienced technical team member, you will collaborate with internal project developers/originators and external entities, including ISOs and Transmission Owners. Your responsibilities will include managing the generator interconnections, which encompasses interconnection application filing, queue management, system impact study review, and generator interconnection agreement negotiation/amendments. You will also provide essential support for merger & acquisition diligence, green‑field projects, and other critical initiatives.
Key Responsibilities- Manage the generator interconnection application process, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and timelines.
- Coordinate with partners, including ISO/RTOs, developers, and utility companies, to facilitate seamless interconnections.
- Develop and implement strategies to improve the generator interconnection process.
- Monitor industry trends, regulatory changes, and technological advancements to inform strategic planning.
- Power systems background with deep knowledge of transmission planning and NERC reliability standards.
- Experience with steady‑state thermal/voltage, short‑circuit, and transient stability analysis using tools such as PSS/E, PSLF, Power
GEM TARA, TSAT, and ASPEN. - Experience with the planning processes within RTOs/ISOs and Transmission Providers, especially regarding baseline reliability planning and generator interconnection studies.
- Ability to coordinate with multiple internal and external SMEs to complete comprehensive studies.
- Understanding of transmission policy and regulatory issues related to generator interconnection.
- Strong communication skills for conveying complex technical information to external team members and all levels of management.
- Demonstrated experience and a working relationship with ISOs MISO and/or SPP, including involvement in generator or load interconnection agreements.
- Knowledge of utility and ISO interconnection study methodology, criteria, and business practices, with a focus on grid reliability.

The base salary range for this position, dependent upon experience, qualifications and skills, is estimated to be $40.00/hr to $45.00/hr.
