Director of Engineering

Position Summary

The Director of Engineering provides technical and operational leadership for the Radiation Shielding Engineering division. This individual oversees engineering design, detailing, project execution, staff development, quality control, and coordination with architects, physicists, contractors, fabricators, and clients. The role is responsible for ensuring the successful delivery of complex radiation shielding projects for healthcare, research, industrial, and government facilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage the engineering and design team, including shielding designers, CAD/Revit staff, and steel detailers.
  • Oversee multiple projects simultaneously from concept through construction and fabrication.
  • Direct radiation shielding design efforts for healthcare, research, and specialty facilities.
  • Review engineering calculations, design documents, fabrication drawings, and construction packages.
  • Coordinate with architects, medical physicists, structural engineers, contractors, and clients.
  • Establish engineering standards, QA/QC procedures, and design best practices.
  • Manage project schedules, budgets, staffing allocations, and resource planning.
  • Mentor and develop technical staff.
  • Assist with client presentations, proposals, and business development efforts.
  • Support BIM/Revit standards and process improvements.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Engineering, or related discipline.
  • 10–15+ years of engineering, design, or construction experience.
  • Prior leadership experience managing technical teams.
  • Strong knowledge of building construction, structural systems, steel fabrication, and project delivery.
  • Advanced proficiency with Revit and AutoCAD.
  • Excellent communication and client-facing skills.
  • Healthcare, oncology, shielding, or specialty construction experience preferred.
