Vice President of Finance

Korn Ferry has been exclusively retained to recruit a Vice President of Finance of a highly regarded family-owned services business. The VP, finance will be the right hand of the President and will lead and enhance forecasting, budgeting, reporting and management reporting across the organization while improving processes and procedures and continuing to develop and mentor the team.

This role will have a highly flexible work schedule, with housing accommodation provided if needed.

• Serve as the primary financial advisor to the President, providing clear, practical insights to support day-to-day decision-making and long-term stability.
• Oversee all aspects of accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, and cash flow management across multiple entities.
• Maintain and enhance existing financial reporting packages, including monthly reporting, variance analysis, and cash flow forecasting.
• Ensure financial transparency and consistency across entities while respecting the nuances of each business line.
• Lead the annual budgeting process and ongoing forecasting activities, building on the current framework already in place.
• Provide thoughtful, actionable analysis to support operational decisions, pricing considerations, and seasonal planning dynamics.
• Monitor business performance across entities, identifying trends and offering measured recommendations to support profitability and efficiency.

• Support the continued evolution of financial systems and tools (e.g., recent and ongoing system transitions), ensuring usability and alignment with business needs.
• Identify targeted opportunities to streamline processes, improve reporting efficiency, and reduce manual effort, without over complicating the organization.
• Maintain strong internal controls and ensure compliance with tax, regulatory, and audit requirements.
• Partner with external auditors and advisors while gradually reducing reliance where appropriate.

• Oversee financial operations across multiple entities, including waste management, moving and storage, real estate, and the recently acquired Florida business.
• Support the integration of the Florida operation into existing reporting structures and financial processes.
• Manage intercompany transactions, allocations, and reporting with accuracy and clarity.
• Lead and support a small, tenured accounting team, providing guidance, structure, and development where helpful.
• Foster a collaborative, respectful team environment aligned with the company’s family-oriented culture.
• Partner closely with operations to ensure alignment between financial insights and day-to-day business realities.

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or MBA preferred.
• 10+ years of progressive finance and accounting experience, including senior leadership roles (VP Finance, Controller, or CFO).
• Experience working within family-owned, closely held, or entrepreneurial businesses strongly preferred.
• Strong foundation in accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, and cash flow management.
• Experience managing multi-entity structures and intercompany dynamics.
• Familiarity with capital-intensive or service-based businesses (e.g., logistics, waste management, transportation, or related industries) is a plus.
• Systems proficiency, with experience supporting ERP or financial system enhancements.
