Work Location and Arrangement
Hybrid position requiring four days/week of in‑office work located at an M&T corporate office in Rochester, NY, Radnor, PA, Springfield, MA, or Boston, MA. Supports New England and/or Delaware Region (Albany, Hudson Valley North, Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, Connecticut).
OverviewA member of the Commercial Credit team that partners with senior team members, supporting underwriting duties and ongoing monitoring of a portfolio of credit relationships. Responsible for performing supporting analysis, identifying risk issues, and completing sections of credit analysis to assess the creditworthiness of commercial clients.
Primary Responsibilities- Facilitate the credit needs of customers by analyzing new requests and modifications from deal screen through approval and for the life of the loan.
- Recommend adding or removing conditions as needed.
- Manage ongoing credit risk of existing loan portfolios through continuous credit monitoring (CCM) activities, enabling timely identification of emerging credit risk to minimize losses.
- Conduct CCM program components, including annual reviews, interim update memos, covenant monitoring, problem loan management, early warning indicators, and other credit surveillance activities.
- Review all pertinent credit and financial information, including financial statements, tax returns, due diligence reports, credit bureaus, appraisals, internal credit information, industry research, and peer data.
- Determine the need for more thorough investigation or additional information.
- Analyze financial information and related materials and complete credit analyses for the Bank’s commercial transactions.
- Provide written analyses that include an independent credit quality assessment with a well‑supported risk rating, identification of credit risks and mitigants, industry concerns, market trends, and other pertinent credit issues.
- Make appropriate structure recommendations based on scenario analysis (company case, bank base case, downside case).
- Identify suspicious activity and activity contrary to the customer’s interest.
- Partner proactively with relationship managers and maintain timely and accurate risk ratings for the portfolio of commercial credits.
- Prepare financial statements and projection models, cash flow, collateral schedules, covenant sensitivity calculations, and guarantor statement analysis as appropriate.
- Enter complete and accurate data into Bank systems to support underwriting and portfolio management activities.
- Attend client/prospect calls with RMs to understand the client and their business.
- Recommend risk rating based on underwriting parameters.
- Present analysis and address questions during credit request discussions or committee presentations.
- Assist in monitoring credit policy compliance by verifying adherence to the Commercial Credit Policy.
- Verify compliance with applicable operational risk controls and regulatory standards.
- Promote a culture of belonging and reflect the M&T Bank brand.
- Maintain M&T internal control standards and respond to audit and regulator expectations.
- Complete other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or related field and a minimum of one year’s work experience in commercial credit, public accounting, financial statement preparation/analysis, or other financial analysis; or, in lieu of a degree, a combined minimum of five years’ higher education and/or work experience, including at least one year in commercial credit.

$62,200.00 – $ annual (USD).
