Job DescriptionWe are seeking a Credits and Incentives (C&I) Director, Tax to join our growing Tax Credits practice. The C&I Tax Credits practice consists of professionals across the U.S. who help clients identify, calculate, document and transfer eligible federal and state credits, including those related to affordable housing, historic rehabilitation, domestic manufacturing and workplace hiring. The ideal candidate will work directly with CFOs, owners and tax directors from middle‑market and Fortune 500 companies to increase cash flow, reduce tax liability and optimize investment in new technology.

- Work with industry experts to document eligibility and qualification of clients for federal and state statutory and negotiated credits and incentives.
- Identify purchasers of federal and state tax credits able to be transferred.
- Close tax credit transactions while mitigating risk to purchasers.
- Research and draft technical memoranda related to tax credit matters.
- Support industry experts with tax technical issues.
- Develop industry thought leadership through internal and external articles and presentations.
- Become a functional expert in relevant technical areas of each client’s business.
- Assist with managing client engagement staffing, billings/collections, and ensuring profitability targets are met.
- Network and build strong relationships internally and externally with colleagues, clients and the community.
- Coordinate with C&I leadership to drive opportunities through existing and prospective clients, and contribute to team building and training.
- Invest in professional development individually and through firm‑wide learning programs.
- Act as a career advisor to seniors, managers and senior managers.
- Review work prepared by managers and senior managers and collaborate with managing directors and partners on client optimization strategies.
- 4‑year degree required.
- CPA, EA or CMI certification required.
- Minimum of 12 years experience in Tax C&I consulting, preferably with federal and/or state statutory credits related to the Inflation Reduction Act, CHIPS Act, Opportunity Zones, Work Opportunity Tax Credit or equivalent.
- 3+ years management experience, mentoring and counseling team members desired.
- Ability to lead and supervise others, provide exceptional client service, demonstrate commitment to continuous learning, and maintain ethical standards.
- Eligibility to work in the U.S. without sponsorship highly preferred.
- Prior success in leading key business development, project delivery and practice development activities preferred.
- Demonstrated success in providing thought leadership and meeting target sales goals through industry presentations, webcasts and professional networking events.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Highly motivated self‑starter with experience managing multiple client engagements.
- Creative problem‑solving and research skills.
The national pay range for this position is $210,380 to $398,850. Compensation is influenced by factors such as applicant skills, experience, qualifications, certifications, work arrangements and geographic location. Baker Tilly offers a comprehensive compensation and benefits package to eligible employees.
