The Opportunity:
The Due Diligence Consultant will conduct initial and ongoing due diligence analysis of investment offerings and ad hoc and routine research on investment-related topics (i.e. philosophies, market & economic conditions, performance, product types, competition). Additional responsibilities include the periodic delivery and review of aggregated information via data entry & automation (i.e. performance reporting, due diligence summaries), managing short time horizon Due Diligence projects and projects that may have a long time horizon and broad impact across the company.
The Team:The Advisory & Risk Oversight team has varied backgrounds and experience in the industry but shares a developed business acumen, an agility to switch between support and analytical work as well as a strong communication skillset, delivered both internally and externally. The role of this team is a careful balance between investment expertise, core support role of the advisors’ practices and participation in on-going internal oversight initiatives.
We are hiring multiple Due Diligence Consultants for this role.
Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Assessment of Investment Manager’s operational infrastructure and governance models, in addition to their philosophy, process, resources and performance
- Providing findings and/or recommendations to senior management in written form and in investment committee presentations
- On-going monitoring and oversight of investment managers and external service providers
- Collaborating and communicating with stakeholders within MML Investor Services, LLC as well as with other cross-functional business partners
- Maintaining and improving standard work, policies/procedures and process workflows
- Ad-hoc projects such as research on investment categories, vehicle types, emerging trends, supporting processes, technology enhancements, and serving as subject matter expert in a consultative role to various departments
- Consults with other departments to help them understand an investment product’s features, benefits, and risks highlighting specific areas of concern.
- Enhance investment oversight by evaluating managers, monitoring performance, and delivering findings to stakeholders.
- Improves due diligence processes by refining workflows, policies, and driving program enhancements.
- Serves as a cross-functional SME through reporting, advisory support, and leading ad hoc initiatives (e.g., fees, tech).
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree
- 3+ years of experience working with investment products and asset classes - including Alternatives, SMAs, mutual funds, variable annuities, etc. OR 3+ years' experience in investment operations, with prior due diligence experience
- 2+ years of experience using Microsoft Office products The Ideal
Qualifications:- CFA designation or currently pursuing
- Prior due diligence experience with various complex and alternative investment products
- Independent, analytical, detail-oriented individual who can balance the needs of multiple projects in various stages of completion
- Demonstrated success in a process-driven environment
- Previous experience presenting findings to senior leadership
- Demonstrated ability to directly address concerns/conflicts, and elevate issues where appropriate
- Adaptability and ability to thrive in a fast-paced, changing environment
- Recognition of patterns and trends in data operations and identifying opportunities for improving processes and systems
