The Loan Assistant (LA) provides administrative and operational assistance to the commercial area of the bank. The LA delivers customer service at the highest levels to both internal and external customers which includes performing research and resolving account/customer issues. The LA works closely with commercial bankers, as assigned, and will provide telephone and in-person service to commercial and consumer banking customers.

DUTIES AND REPONSIBILITIES:
  • Responsible for supporting commercial bankers with large and complex loan portfolios by assisting in the management of customer relationships and accounts by processing transactions, renewing loans, resolving account/customer issues and providing various other administrative support functions using a variety of banking and lending system applications.
  • Promote an outstanding customer experience by exemplifying prompt follow-up and proactive internal/external customer communication, proper etiquette, and all other

professional customer service qualities to maximize the most out of the client relationships.

  • Basic understanding of loan documentation, credit policy and banking regulation to enable a constant review and stay up to speed on any changes with company credit policy and company compliance.
  • Basic understanding of HMDA, CRA Community Development, and CRA Small Business Revenue inputs to ensure proper reporting and compliance for the bank.
  • Coordinates the preparation of required loan documentation via worksheets/workflow system. Reviews all loan documents to ensure documentation is prepared according to written approval, coordinates execution of loan documents for new loans and renewals. Attends and completes all necessary training.
  • Works closely with assigned bankers to assist with loans by obtaining financial data, drafting letters, clearing exceptions, and obtaining documentation. Coordinates with CPAs, attorneys, insurance agents, etc. of assigned clients to resolve specific exceptions and transactional issues. Coordinates title work and closing details with approved attorneys/title companies.
  • Works closely with the assigned banker to assist in collecting financial data and client phone/email communication to better manage the overall client relationship. Other client related services include wires, NSF accounts and overdrafts. Should contain a basic understanding of financial statements and their interpretations.
  • Responsible for monitoring reports such as past due, paid off loans, criticized assets, and maturing loan lists to assist and proactively inform banker of potential or pending issues along with providing support to minimize administrative issues such client past dues.
  • Reviews maturing loan report monthly to manage upcoming processing requests.
  • Reviews collateral/credit/financials exception reports weekly to manage to desired exception levels.
  • May orient, train, assign, and review the work of lower-level commercial support staff.
  • Performs other duties as required.
MINIMUM EDUCATION:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE:
  • Two years' experience in credit, customer service, or bank-related position
  • Three to five years clerical, administrative support or general office experience
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:
  • Self-starter, ability to work independently.
  • Demonstrate the ability to be proactive in judgment, multi-task, and be punctual and timely in performing tasksin-depth knowledge of loan documentation
  • General knowledge of financial statement analysis
  • In-depth knowledge of treasury services, merchant services, card services, asset-based lending
  • Ability to balance administrative functions and meet service expectations
  • Effective written and oral communication skills
  • Effective organizational skills
  • Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft office products and spreadsheet applications
  • Proficient keyboarding and computer skills
  • Detail-Oriented with exceptional organizational skills
