Pay ranges are listed as hourly for non‑exempt employees and based on assumed full time commitment for exempt employees.

Schedule
  • Full‑time opportunities, 36 hours
  • Day shift: 7am – 7:30pm
  • Night shift: 7pm – 7:30am
  • Rotating holidays and weekends
Unit
  • Springfield 6400 – General Medical Surgical Unit serves patients ages 22 to 100+ with common diagnoses such as acute or chronic conditions, gastrointestinal disorders, infection processes, behavioral health, neurological & circulatory impairment, kidney disease, and diabetes.
  • The unit has 32 beds, 16 semi‑private rooms, and has completed several nurse‑driven change projects including activity/mobility tool, acuity‑based assignments, capacity management workflow, and foley utilization.
  • The Manager is dedicated to professional growth and the nursing model of care, and the unit has a close partnership with Physician Medical Director.
Responsibilities

Baystate Health, Patient Care Technicians (PCT) play a hands‑on role in delivering compassionate, high‑quality care alongside our nursing team. Under the supervision of an RN, you'll assist with direct patient care, including hygiene, mobility, and vital sign monitoring.

PCTs perform a range of clinical tasks such as phlebotomy, EKGs, specimen collection, and point‑of‑care testing. This role also includes assisting with procedures, patient transport, equipment management, and supporting emergency response protocols.

Strong communication, teamwork, and a commitment to patient safety are essential.

Qualifications
  • Level I: PCT training or CNA training (preferred). BLS CPR Certification through American Heart Association (required).
  • Level II: High school diploma or GED. At least one year of patient care experience (varied settings). BLS CPR Certification required.
  • Level III: High school diploma or GED. Three or more years of patient care experience (varied settings) OR at least one year as a Level II PCT at Baystate Health. BLS CPR Certification required.
  • Level IV: High school diploma or GED. Four or more years of acute or specialty‑specific care setting experience OR at least one year as a Level III PCT at Baystate Health. BLS CPR Certification required.
