Pay ranges are listed as hourly for non-exempt employees and based on assumed full time commitment for exempt employees.

Minimum – Midpoint – Maximum

$30.00 – $38.17 – $49.08

Surgical Technologist – Main OR (Daly OR)

Location: Baystate Medical Center
Department: Main OR – Daly OR
Schedule: 36 hours per week
Shift: Rotating weekends, holidays, and call required

Sign-On Bonus: Up to $5,000 (bonus subject to change)

Summary

The Surgical Technologist works under the direction of the Unit Manager, RN Clinical Operations Coordinator, and RN Service Leads to support safe and effective invasive surgical procedures. The role requires expertise in aseptic technique, surgical instrumentation, and knowledge of anatomy, surgical processes, and technology. The Surgical Technologist anticipates surgeon and physician needs and supports efficient, high-quality patient care while maintaining the sterile field.

Daly

Operating Room
  • Part of the Main OR in a Level I Trauma Center
  • 24 new and modern operating rooms
  • High-acuity surgical environment supporting a wide range of specialties
  • Collaborates with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and nursing staff
Responsibilities
  • Apply sterile and aseptic techniques during surgical procedures
  • Prepare and manage instruments, supplies, and equipment
  • Monitor and maintain the sterile field
  • Participate in the operating team with knowledge of patient history and intra-operative care plan
  • Administer pharmacological agents per policy, recognizing mixtures and doses
  • Maintain accurate documentation and adhere to department policies
  • Support minimally invasive, invasive, therapeutic, and diagnostic procedures
  • Demonstrate sharps safety, temperature regulation, and specimen handling skills
  • Communicate effectively using appropriate medical terminology
Qualifications

Education / Certification Requirements (Career Ladder Levels)

Surgical Technologist I
  • Associate of Science in Surgical Technology OR CAAHEP-accredited program completion OR equivalent structured training program
  • AST Certification
    *
  • CPR – American Heart Association BLS

* Certification required if no surgical facility experience prior to July 1, 2013

Surgical Technologist II
  • All requirements for Tech I
  • Minimum 2 years surgical technologist experience
  • 1 year employment at Baystate Medical Center OR 2 years comparable external experience
  • Completion of orientation competencies
Surgical Technologist III
  • All requirements for Tech I
  • Minimum 4 years surgical technologist experience
  • 1 year employment at Baystate Health
