Position SummaryThe Mohs Medical Assistant/Surgical Technician plays a crucial role in delivering high-quality patient-centered care to individuals undergoing Mohs surgery. This position ensures the maintenance of a safe, efficient, and quality-focused environment by conducting pre-surgical evaluations, providing patient and family education, assisting with surgical procedures, managing patient flow, and maintaining meticulous patient records in both electronic and physical formats.
Pay and HoursPay range: $24 - $26 hourly.
Hours:
Monday & Thursday in Salem, NH;
Tuesday & Wednesday in North Andover, MA. 10 hours daily (6:30 AM - 4:30 PM).
- Conduct initial assessments and review health survey data to develop comprehensive care plans tailored to patient needs.
- Provide detailed pre‑operative and post‑operative education to patients and their families.
- Prepare the surgical area by organizing necessary instruments, equipment, and anesthesia.
- Assist the surgeon during procedures, including scrubbing in, handing instruments, cutting sutures, and maintaining a sterile operative field.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and compliant surgical environment.
- Administer anesthesia under direct supervision of the physician.
- Accurately document all aspects of patient care in the EMR system.
- Track follow-up communications and post‑operative instructions.
- Promote excellence in surgical care and patient outcomes.
- Adhere strictly to safety standards and protocols to maintain a sterile environment.
- Monitor patient safety during procedures and recovery.
- Provide clear written post‑operative instructions for patients.
- Assist patients with mobility after surgery to prevent falls.
- Operate and maintain surgical equipment, including autoclave operations.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a medical assistant or surgical technician; dermatology experience highly preferred.
- Proficiency with EMR systems and Microsoft Office.
- Expertise in surgical instruments and maintaining sterile environments.
Physical requirements:
- Stand, walk, sit for extended periods.
- Use hands to handle objects, tools, controls; reach with hands and arms.
- Climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, bend, crouch, or crawl.
- Lift, push, pull, or move up to 20 pounds.
Vision requirements:
- Close‑vision, distance‑vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment.
