Medical Assistant position at Oak Street Health. The Medical Assistant gathers medical information for providers to ensure accurate healthcare decisions and supports the care team to deliver an excellent patient experience.
Role DescriptionThe purpose of a Medical Assistant at Oak Street Health is to gather all necessary medical information regarding patients to ensure providers have the most accurate information available when making healthcare decisions. Medical Assistants (MA) report to the Practice Manager or Center Operations Specialist. They are a vital element of our model and important members of our Care Teams. Being an MA at Oak Street Health requires high levels of flexibility, energy, attention to detail, and problem solving skills.
You will build relationships with Oak Street Health members and collaborate closely with teammates to drive clinical results through patient screenings and routine diagnostic testing during appointments.
- Ensure an efficient patient flow; room patients promptly, complete vital signs, complete required screenings and medication reviews
- Inventory supplies and stock exam rooms
- Respond to patient requests for telephonic support (lab results, faxing records to specialists, etc.)
- As allowed by state regulations, administer vaccinations and perform point-of-care tests including A1C, spirometry, EKGs, blood draws for lab testing, etc.
- Import required documents into EMR via scanning or PDF upload
- Participate in care team meetings to discuss patient care and clinic operations
- Process orders for durable medical equipment
- Request medical records from external providers as required by the provider
- Conduct routine quality control checks including infection control measures and equipment checks; assist in maintaining center lab
- Other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications:
- State or national certification (as required by state), or graduation from an accredited medical assistant course
- 1 year experience as a medical assistant
- CPR or BLS Certification
- Electronic Medical Record experience
- Computer skills: ability to navigate multiple programs (e.g., Gmail, MS Word or Google Docs, Excel or Google Sheets)
- Proficiency in non-English languages as required by the center's demographics

- Minimum of three years in a Medical Assistant role
- Successful mastery of the workflow in a previous MA position
- Appetite for expanded responsibilities and greater clinical experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- 2 or more years of experience working with geriatric patients

Pay Range:
The typical pay range for this role is: $18.50 - $35.29 per hour. This range represents base pay for all positions in the job grade. Actual offer depends on experience, education, geography and other factors. Eligible for CVS Health bonus, commission, or short-term incentive in addition to base pay.
