- High School diploma or G.E.D.
- Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant Program
- Current Medical Assistant Certification
- CPR (BLS) certification
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, patients, and outside agencies
- Professional mannerisms and appearance
- Proficiency in assessment and delivery of services to a diverse population (Adult, Infant, Child)
- Patient prepping: take and record vital signs, perform tests such as EKG, vision and audio screening, and oxygen saturation.
- Prepare exam rooms and assist with examinations as needed.
- Provide interpretation assistance for bilingual patients and staff.
- Assist with duties assigned by the Nurse Manager, Director of Nursing, or Chief Nursing Officer.
- Oversee provider schedules and manage patient flow.
- Maintain confidentiality of health center information.
- Schedule patient appointments and follow‑ups.
- Comply with HIPAA regulations.
- Maintain lab/work area cleanliness and universal precautions.
- Order lab and clinic supplies; inspect supplies quarterly and document in log books.
- Review order sheets, administer vaccines as directed, and collect lab specimens ensuring specimen integrity.
- Perform laboratory tests including urinalysis, hCG, strep, finger‑stick glucose, Hgb, and lead testing.
- Complete lab requisitions according to insurance or grant guidelines.
- Record completed lab work in daily lab logs and perform weekly spore counts.
- Assist with quality improvement projects to elevate measures for HRSA, UDS, NCC, ACO, and PCMH.
Work is performed in a busy outpatient clinic environment with direct patient contact. Requires frequent standing, walking, bending, and lifting. Involves use of computers, phones, and standard medical office equipment. Must respond quickly in urgent or emergent situations.
Salary$19.00 - $25.53 per hour.
Preferred QualificationsAccredited Medical Assistant Program.
