Specialty Pharmacist – Second Shift (1:00 PM – 9:30 PM EST)

Springfield, MA

Shift: 8‑hour shifts Monday–Friday, 1:00 PM – 9:30 PM. Weekend rotation Saturday or Sunday as needed.

Provides integrated support to patients and physicians by delivering a hands‑on, total quality patient care experience. This role ensures seamless coordination across specialty and retail pharmacy services, enabling smooth patient transitions and timely access to medications.

• Manage both retail and specialty pharmacy operations, ensuring safe and effective medication dispensing
• Provide clinical oversight and support, preparing and dispensing medications by reviewing and interpreting physician orders and detecting therapeutic incompatibilities
• Perform Medication Therapy Management (MTM), including reviewing and monitoring medication regimens, advising clinicians on evidence‑based therapies, and documenting interventions
• Offer patient counseling and clinical support, making referrals to other healthcare professionals when necessary
• Complete pharmacy operational requirements by organizing and directing technicians’ workflow, verifying preparation and labeling of pharmaceuticals, and verifying prescriptions
• Identify and resolve insurance‑related issues and recognize opportunities for financial assistance programs
• Manage, organize, and update relevant data using database systems
• Ensure compliance with State Board of Pharmacy regulations, DEA regulations, and company policies and procedures
• Maintain controlled substance records and remove outdated or damaged medications from inventory
• Supervise support personnel’s work quality, maintain licensure, and stay current on legislation
• Ensure adherence to 340B program compliance, specialty pharmacy accreditation standards, and medication safety protocols
• Identify trends, resolve problems, and recommend process improvements; actively participate in process improvement initiatives and apply insights to enhance productivity, quality, and customer service

• Train and mentor pharmacy staff, students, interns, externs, and residents, and support other healthcare professionals
• Maintain professional networks and stay current through publications and organizations
• Protect organizational value by maintaining strict confidentiality and demonstrating flexibility to support business needs
• Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) or Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy
• Active pharmacist license in Massachusetts
• Minimum 1 year experience in retail or specialty pharmacy; 5+ years preferred
• Strong knowledge of pharmacology, FDA regulations, and clinical best practices
• Ability to analyze information, exercise sound judgment, accurately administer and review medications, and manage workflows efficiently
• Leadership and team management capabilities; high attention to detail and commitment to quality
• Strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills; advanced computer proficiency; organization and integrity; empathic and patient‑focused

Salary Range: $120,000 – $130,000 annually. Bonus eligibility based on applicable plans.
