This is an opportunity for an experienced respiratory care professional to lead clinical services supporting pediatric patients with complex respiratory needs. The Respiratory Care Supervisor will oversee Respiratory Therapists and ECMO Specialists while providing direct and consultative care across a range of clinical settings. The ideal candidate will bring strong pediatric respiratory expertise, leadership capability, and a commitment to clinical excellence, staff development, and quality improvement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise Respiratory Therapists and ECMO Specialists across multiple clinical programs and care settings.
  • Oversee daily operations of the Respiratory Care Department and ECMO Program, maintaining appropriate staffing, equipment, and resources.
  • Monitor patient volume and acuity to support safe staffing and compliance with quality and patient-care standards.
  • Evaluate staff performance, provide coaching and counseling, and implement performance improvement or disciplinary measures when appropriate.
  • Provide direct and consultative respiratory care and extracorporeal life support services.
  • Provide leadership in the development, implementation, and evaluation of clinical practices, technical standards, and departmental procedures.
  • Promote professionalism, accountability, collaboration, and consistent clinical standards across the team.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and support department-wide patient safety and performance goals.
  • Serve as a departmental representative to clinical programs and multidisciplinary initiatives.
  • Support the ongoing development and competency of respiratory care and ECMO staff.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Associate degree in Respiratory Therapy or a related respiratory care discipline required.
  • Bachelor's degree in a complementary field required; master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 4 years of clinical experience as a licensed Respiratory Therapist.
  • At least 3 years of experience in a pediatric specialty required.
  • Completion of extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) training required.

    One to two years of clinical experience as an Associate ECMO Specialist required.
  • Current Massachusetts Respiratory Therapist license required.
  • Current Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential through the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) required.
  • Neonatal/Pediatric Specialist (NPS) credential required.
  • Demonstrated experience supervising or leading clinical staff preferred.
  • Strong pediatric respiratory care and ECMO expertise.
  • Effective clinical leadership and staff supervision skills.
  • Sound judgment in high-acuity and rapidly changing clinical environments.
  • Ability to coach, develop, and hold staff accountable for performance.
  • Strong communication and interdisciplinary collaboration skills.
  • Commitment to patient safety, quality improvement, and evidence-based practice.
  • Ability to balance direct patient care with operational and leadership responsibilities.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage staffing, equipment, and competing departmental priorities.
  • Professionalism, integrity, and a patient-centered approach to care.

The position is based at a major pediatric medical center and provides leadership across respiratory care and ECMO services. The role combines clinical practice, operational oversight, staff development, and quality improvement within a multidisciplinary environment serving patients with complex and critical respiratory needs.

  • Compensation: $84,183.84–$ annually, based on qualifications and experience.
