Baystate Health is seeking a Patient Care Technician (PCT) to join our Postpartum Department team at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, Massachusetts. Our Postpartum team provides care to a diverse adult patient population, working closely with physicians, nurses, and interdisciplinary teams to deliver safe, compassionate, high-quality care.

Patient Care Technician

Responsibilities Include:
  • Patient Care & Monitoring:
    Provides safe, age-appropriate care; obtains and documents vital signs, measurements, intake/output, and changes in patient condition; promptly reports concerns to the appropriate clinical team member.
  • Clinical Procedures & Testing:
    Performs approved treatments and procedures, including dressing changes, specimen collection, EKGs, Point-of-Care testing, and other unit-specific clinical functions in accordance with Baystate Health policies.
  • Treatment & Provider Support:
    Assists nurses and providers with examinations, treatments, procedures, elimination needs, and other delegated patient care activities; monitors patients and reports unexpected changes.
  • Communication & Teamwork:
    Communicates respectfully and effectively with patients, families, and the healthcare team; recognizes culturally based needs and supports both clinical and non-clinical team activities.
  • Patient Safety & Emergency Response:
    Maintains patient safety, initiates appropriate emergency procedures, provides one-to-one patient observation when required, and maintains required clinical competencies.

  • Job Type: Full-Time, 36 hours per week
  • Shift: Day, 7am-7:30pm
  • Schedule:

    12-hour shifts
  • Weekend Requirement:
    Every other Saturday and Sunday
  • Holiday Requirements:
    Every other Holiday

The compensation range(s) in the table below represent the base salaries for all positions at a given grade across the health system. Typically, a new hire can expect a starting salary somewhere in the lower part of the range. Actual salaries may vary by position and will be determined based on the candidate's relevant experience. No employee will be paid below the minimum of the range.

Pay ranges are listed as hourly for non-exempt employees and based on assumed full time commitment for exempt employees.
