Institutional Research Analyst

Under the supervision of the Director of Institutional Research, the Institutional Research Analyst is responsible for gathering data, preparing reports, analyzing data and statistics, and managing institutional data and technologies in support of institutional research, planning, and evaluation activities.

Coordinate all aspects of external data reporting by reviewing data definitions and terms, preparing data files for analysis, collecting data from administrative offices, reviewing accuracy of data submissions, ensuring data completeness, entering data, and resolving data error checks.

This entails working with external agencies, internal colleagues, and adhering to deadlines. Examples of this reporting include surveys from the Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS) and US News and World Report and completion of the Common Data Set.

Conduct institutional research and produce internal reports for academic and administrative units by coordinating the publication of the annual Fact Book, identifying appropriate data sources, writing and maintaining database queries, analyzing census data, compiling historical trend data, and creating tables, charts, and visualizations with tools such as Excel and Tableau. Respond to ad-hoc data requests professionally and efficiently.

Organize institutional data and information by extracting data from enterprise resource planning (ERP) system, web-based software applications, and external data sources through database queries and data downloads; maintain census files for each academic term; establish cohort files; and update institutional metrics on a regular basis.

Administer suite of institutional surveys (e.g., senior survey, post-graduation survey, National Survey of Student Engagement (NSSE), the Healthy Minds Study Student Survey) by programming surveys into Qualtrics, collaborating with stakeholders on survey design, coordinating with third-parties on survey distribution, troubleshooting technical issues, preparing and analyzing survey data.

Manage institutional technologies for office and campus use by administering users, permissions, and functions for Qualtrics (survey software), Tableau Cloud (visualization software), and IOTA
360 Course Evaluation platforms, providing consultation and technical support to members of the campus community.

• Bachelor's Degree in Data Analytics, Statistics, Social Sciences, Education, Business, or a related field is Required

• Master's Degree is Preferred.
• Knowledge of quantitative and qualitative research methods and survey research design
• Strong analytical skills, computer/technical skills, and familiarity with web-based applications
• Attention to detail, confidential handling of sensitive data, management of multiple projects with deadlines, effective oral and written communication; independent and collaborative work
• Intermediate proficiency in web-site content updates
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, etc.), Gmail, and Google Suite; data visualization (Tableau Desktop and Cloud, etc.), statistical, and survey software; and Cloud-based tools
• Occasional Evening, Holiday, or Weekend Work
