Position:Assistant Attorney General – Human Trafficking Division (Springfield Regional)
The Attorney General’s Human Trafficking Division is a statewide prosecutorial team partnered with the Massachusetts State Police, investigators, and victim witness advocates. The division investigates and prosecutes sex trafficking and labor trafficking cases throughout the Commonwealth, often involving complex issues and coordination with local and federal law enforcement and victim service providers. The division also co‑leads the Commonwealth’s Anti‑Trafficking Task Force, a multi‑disciplinary body that brings together partners across sectors to address all forms of human trafficking, and coordinates statewide policy, training, and education efforts.
PrimaryDuties
The Assistant Attorney General will investigate and prosecute sex trafficking and labor trafficking criminal cases across all jurisdictions in Massachusetts, with a focus on Berkshire, Franklin, Hampden, and Hampshire counties. Responsibilities include working within a multidisciplinary team (victim witnesses, law enforcement, financial investigators, service providers), conducting victim and witness interviews, assessing financial and documentary evidence, executing search warrants, participating in a multi‑agency task force to share intelligence, pursuing forfeiture actions, formulating investigative strategies, preparing search warrants, analyzing documents, interviewing witnesses, leading document‑ and witness‑intensive grand jury investigations, drafting immunity and/or cooperation agreements, making charging, venue, and plea‑bargaining recommendations, and prosecuting complex cases in superior courts.
Participation in training and outreach efforts in the four targeted counties may also be required.
Full‑Time / Exempt.
LocationThe Assistant Attorney General will work out of the AGO’s Springfield Regional Office. Our hybrid model includes some telework days for most positions.
Salary$87,500 – $130,595, commensurate with JD year.

Position Requirements- Must be a member of the Massachusetts bar.
- At least five (5) years of litigation experience; experience as a criminal prosecutor or defense attorney preferred.
- Jury trial and grand jury experience required.
- Knowledge of or ability to gain understanding of Massachusetts human trafficking statutes and related legislation.
- Experience investigating and prosecuting human trafficking, sexual assault, and/or domestic violence cases preferred.
- Exceptional analytical, writing, and oral advocacy skills.
- Ability to conduct complex investigations and prosecutions and carry a significant caseload.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team, including law enforcement, investigators, victim support personnel, and anti‑trafficking stakeholders.
- Effective interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with the public.
- Must have access to reliable transportation, as travel is necessary to various courts and offices throughout the Commonwealth.
