Operations Manager

Drives the performance of the clerical and administrative support teams within the Gas Operations Planning and Scheduling Organization by providing day-to-day leadership, coaching, and support to team members who perform clerical tasks to ensure timely response and exceptional service to internal and external customers.
Responsible for overseeing various job responsibilities including initiation and preparation of work orders, supporting contractor billing and invoicing, overseeing time entry, and collaborating with local Project Controls, Maintenance, Meter Services and Construction organizations. Ensures work is accurate, timely, and cost-effective, adheres to time frames for capital, maintenance, and mandated work, and trains the workforce to achieve optimum efficiency across operating regions.
Essential Functions- Integrity of data input into the work management systems and operating databases.
- Contractor billing reconciliation and invoicing process.
- Reconciliation of purchasing card transactions and entering expenses.
- Confirming police/traffic details are ordered as needed in certain work regions.
- Supporting and verifying payroll process as assigned.
- Maintaining ARCOS process including Area on‑call lists and weekly overtime reports.
- Assigning responsibility of check writing for permits in various regions.
- Analyzing performance measures and metrics to monitor and evaluate staff performance.
- Identifying and implementing work practices and process improvement plans to improve efficiency and ensure consistency.
- Supervising the management and development of the clerical and administrative staff.
- Other work as assigned.
- Knowledge of gas distribution operations including construction and maintenance practices.
- Strong knowledge of customer information systems, work management systems, MS Office products (Access, Word, Excel) and work management processes.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business, related discipline, or equivalent experience.
- Five (5) or more years of related experience including managing multiple projects and deadlines, utilizing technology and process implementation in electric or gas distribution and/or operations.
- Experience supervising in a union environment preferred.
- Valid Motor Vehicle Operator License required.
- Position is safety‑sensitive for the purpose of drug testing; subject to pre‑assignment and random drug tests.
- Work performed primarily in an office environment involving sitting, standing and general movement.
- Job may require frequent drives to field sites or meetings.
- Must be available to travel between MA/CT/NH as necessary.
