AboutSecurity Engineering
The Security Engineering & Platforms (Sec Eng) organization within Information Security is responsible for protecting the integrity, confidentiality, and availability of CVS Health's data, digital assets, and systems on behalf of our colleagues, customers, patients, and members. The team's security remit spans AI, applications, exposure management, cloud, infrastructure, and data protection - plus the engineering foundations that scale these capabilities across our enterprise.
Security Engineering partners closely with product engineering, IT, and business owners to embed security earlier in the SDLC, accelerate time-to-remediate, and shift the organization from reactive controls to engineered, measurable, and automated defenses to effectively counter evolving cyber threats.
This individual contributor role operates at the intersection of Information Security strategy, long-range planning, and organizational health. As part of the Office of Security Engineering (OSE), the Senior Manager drives strategic and long-range planning, owns the operating rhythm that keeps leadership aligned and decisions moving, leads internal communications that make complex security work clear across the organization, and partners with leadership on talent and engagement initiatives that strengthen and retain the Sec Eng workforce.
The role translates priorities into durable operating mechanisms, executive-ready narratives, measurable execution plans, and the cadence and communications that help Security Engineering scale with clarity, accountability, and business impact.
The role is organized across three capability areas:
Strategic & long-range planningLeads multi-year strategy and long-range planning for OSE - translating executive priorities into strategy roadmaps, OKRs, quarterly priorities, program charters, milestones, dependency maps, risk registers, and measurable outcomes. Coordinates across Sec Eng functions, Information Security partners, technology teams, finance, sourcing, HR, and business stakeholders to keep complex, multi-year initiatives aligned and moving. Produces strategy documents, business cases, decision memos, and executive presentations that are clear and actionable for senior leaders.
Operationalcadence & business operations
Owns and runs the Sec Eng operating rhythm - designing and facilitating leadership meetings, business reviews, team offsites, and strategic workshops that align our operating cadence with priorities. Builds executive presentations and storytelling materials with clear, compelling narratives for senior leaders. Supports business operations that keep the organization running with clarity and accountability.
Internal communications & talent and engagementLeads internal communications for Sec Eng, including executive messaging, org-wide updates, town halls, and change communications that make strategy, priorities, and progress clear and actionable across the organization. Partners with leadership and HR on talent and engagement initiatives, driving programs that strengthen culture and retain the Sec Eng team. Connects communications and engagement to the operating cadence so the organization stays informed, aligned, and motivated.
