Western New England University is accepting applications for the position of Senior Director of Development/Director of Development. The position level offered to the selected candidate will be based on experience.

The hiring range for this position is:

  • Director of Development (3-5 years of experience) - $100,000 - $125,000
  • Senior Director of Development (5+ years of experience) - $125,000 - $145,000
PURPOSE OF THIS POSITION:

The Senior Development Director/Development Director is responsible for leading all development activities within three colleges or operational units (COU) of the University in effort to raise funding in support of the mission. In coordination with the Vice President for Advancement and other members of the Advancement Team, the position develops, implements and monitors a comprehensive fundraising plan to expand philanthropic support of the organization including strengthening relationships with key donors, identifying and cultivating new prospective donors, engaging with leadership of the CAU to build a strong culture of philanthropy, and working with the members of the Advancement Team to deliver programming that increases engagement and philanthropy.

DISTINGUISHING

CHARACTERISTICS:

This position works closely with the Vice President for Advancement and serves on the senior management team for the Advancement Division. The position requires a collaborative and creative approach to redefining and solving problems, along with identifying alternate strategies that are novel and effective.

Responsibilities include:
  • Playing a key leadership role in the University’s fundraising activities, including providing strategic direction based on an analytical review of friend-and-fundraising data and donor behaviors, with special attention paid to creating and implementing strategies that focus on building a robust donor pipeline.
  • Creating and implementing programs to build stronger relationships with alumni, parents, business leaders, faculty, and staff.
  • Cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding of prospects and donors with the capacity to make gifts at all levels.
  • Building strong relationships with colleagues across the University to achieve fundraising objectives.
Qualifications

QUALIFICATION STANDARDS:

  • Seven years of fundraising experience
  • Some management/supervisory experience
  • Experience securing major gifts by strategically managing a portfolio and fostering meaningful relationships
  • Highly developed leadership and organizational skills.
  • A track record of working closely with senior leaders and providing the support necessary to ensure their success in development activities
  • Proven ability to develop guidelines and metrics to track effectiveness of projects and processes
  • Interpersonal skills to establish and maintain good working relationships ranging from senior management to technical and administrative staff
  • Commitment to ethical practices in fundraising
  • Demonstrated ability to manage conflict.
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
ERGONOMIC REQUIREMENTS:
  • Sitting, standing, bending, walking, climbing stairs, and reaching as expected in normal office setting. Occasional lifting, not to exceed 25 pounds
