Position Overview

OMG currently operates in two Divisions: OMG Roofing Products and Fasten Master®. OMG Roofing Products is a leading global manufacturer and supplier of value-added components for the commercial roofing industry. The Fasten Master Division manufactures and markets innovative, premium quality wood-to-wood fasteners that are engineered to enable professional contractors to complete building projects safer, faster, and easier. The Production Supervisor effectively directs the day-to-day activities to meet production, quality, safety, and continuous improvement goals.

This key position demands strong problem solving and communication skills, and the ability to drive a team to meet performance targets. The Production Supervisor requires a strong understanding of production manufacturing and lean processes and will lead by example.

Position Responsibilities
  • Promote Safety as the Number One priority of all OMG employees.
  • Drive Continuous Improvement (CI) and Lean Manufacturing, providing direction and support to CI Teams to exceed goals.
  • Review production requirements and adjust work schedules to meet objectives.
  • Develop new, and track existing, cost savings and productivity improvement initiatives.
  • Effectively manage shift workers, including hiring, training, employee development, performance reviews, addressing disciplinary issues, and resolving employee performance issues.
  • Develop the bench strength for our manufacturing teams.
  • Communicate and implement company initiatives and policies.
  • Inspect products to verify conformance to specifications and work with Quality resources to address variations.
  • Recommend measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.
  • Develop metrics to improve daily and weekly efficiency, tracking performance through trending analyses.
  • Conduct weekly team meetings to promote improvement opportunities.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned.
Position Requirements
  • High School diploma or equivalent (bachelor's degree preferred).
  • 5+ years' management or supervisory experience.
  • Manufacturing experience required.
  • Experience implementing lean manufacturing processes.
  • Strong communication, organizational, analytical, and mathematical skills.
  • Self-starter with desire and willingness to institute change.
  • Capable of overcoming obstacles and completing assignments in a timely manner.
  • Ability to motivate individuals and teams to perform at high levels to meet and exceed goals.
  • Team-oriented approach with a desire to work in a hands-on leadership capacity.
  • Positive attitude, good judgment, and excellent time management skills.
  • Ability to effectively document performance and activities of Finishing functions.
  • Strong sense of responsibility and ownership plus a desire and willingness to institute change when needed.
  • Strong aptitude for understanding and troubleshooting mechanical processes.
  • PC skills including experience with MS Office Suite.
  • Positive can-do attitude.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to work in high-noise areas and wear appropriate hearing protection devices.
  • The position requires the ability to regularly stand for long periods of time.
  • Ability to stand, walk and sit for long periods of time; talk and hear, both in person and by telephone; handle or feel objects or controls, reach with hands and arms; and occasionally lift/push/pull/carry up to 25 pounds.
