Job Description
The Director, Marketing & Communications leads the ongoing design and implementation of a seamless digital member experience from first exposure through prospect development to member engagement. This position ensures ease of use with emphasis on searchability and responsive design, maintaining a state-of-the-art user experience that meets the expectations and needs of members and facilitates financial support for the Center for Corporate Citizenship.
The Director is a member of the senior leadership team and is accountable for the overall digital experience, marketing, and content communication strategies that drive the educational and membership needs of the Center. Responsibility includes streamlining the transition of experiences from points of exposure to points of purchase for prospects, members, and program attendees. The Director continually monitors, maintains, and optimizes consumer experiences and expectations within the digital sphere, assessing the best technologies and use‑cases to facilitate member, prospect, and participant engagement while maximizing revenue‑generating digital interfaces and events.
Additional leadership duties include public positioning, supervising the digital footprint and reputation of the Center, maintaining positive relationships with influential business executives, academics, and media, and acting as an external spokesperson. The Director creates and maintains a best‑in‑class website, a dynamic social media presence, strategic email marketing campaigns, and engaging print and digital content to support both the Center and the leadership team.
Strategic responsibilities involve recommending and making key decisions regarding future direction for technology applications essential for engagement, such as web, email marketing, registration systems, virtual event and e‑learning platforms, and analytics. The Director also leads efforts to increase public support of the Center’s mission, strategic initiatives, and products, supporting $5M+ in annual revenue across membership, executive education, and conference products, and is expected to drive growth in all three business verticals.
The role includes leading the marketing and communications team, producing a quarterly magazine and other periodic communications, and participating as a member of the Executive Director’s Management Leadership Team.
The Director is the principal resource for the focus, schedule, development coordination, marketing, editorial, and documentation of the Center’s website (ccc.bc.edu) and other external communications strategies. Responsibilities also involve external positioning regarding traditional media relations, social media, publication production, and public representation opportunities, as well as occasional external speaking and writing duties at corporate events and conferences.
Requirements- Master’s degree or commensurate combination of experience and training and 7 years of management experience.
- Thorough understanding of digital platforms, applications, integrations, and business functionality to ensure seamless member interactions.
- Thorough understanding of marketing and communications concepts with real‑world execution experience.
- Ability to provide competitive and strategic market analysis to increase membership value and revenue.
- Demonstrated ability to collect and analyze complex data from multiple sources and use them to inform new business strategies.
- Strong AI content generation and packaging experience; experience with AI web coding a plus.
- Familiarity with all aspects of website development, design, and analytics to ensure effectiveness.
- Ability to create lead generation opportunities using email, web, events, and other viable channels.
- Excellent communicator, strong writer, motivated self‑starter, highly organized, and capable of working well with colleagues at all levels.
- Strong presentation, interpersonal, facilitation, writing, editing, and communication skills.
- Experience creating and managing budgets and production schedules.
- Experience working with third‑party vendors, design agencies, and content developers.
