The Salvation Army's Springfield Corps is hiring a Bridging The Gap Counselor and offers the following benefit package to part‑time employees.

Location:
170 Pearl Street, Springfield, MA
Hours per week: 15 hours (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday 1 pm to 6 pm)
Exemption status:
Non‑exempt
Pay range: $18.00 – $25.00 per hour (starting pay varies depending on experience and qualifications)
Duties & Responsibilities- Help plan and assist Bridging the Gap curriculum.
- Review lesson plans and offer input.
- Attend weekly staff meetings.
- Observe at least one group per week.
- Discuss each participant’s progress with the BTG Coordinator and interns.
- Maintain a document of all participants’ addresses.
- Advocate for participants where necessary.
- Talk to participants as required/needed.
- Handle and teach teens at Bridging the Gap with varying personal backgrounds.
- Attend training sessions as required.
- Coordinate with area colleges and graduate programs to recruit interns and volunteers.
- Represent The Salvation Army’s social mission in the Bridging the Gap program.
- Refer persons with spiritual needs to The Salvation Army Corps Officer.
- Perform other related tasks as assigned by supervisor.
Education Requirements: College student, preferably a college graduate.
Work Experience: Minimum of 1 year experience working with young adults.

Qualifications:
- Ability to work with disadvantaged youth is a definite plus.
- Must be knowledgeable about outside referral services.
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
