Department:Heart and Vascular Critical Care (HVCC)
The Heart and Vascular Critical Care Unit provides a full array of services for the critically ill cardiac patient, including care of post or evolving MI, immediate and post cardiac surgery care, immediate cardiac interventional care, therapeutic hypothermia for post cardiac arrests, titratable vasoactive infusions, hemodynamic monitoring using specialized critical care equipment, and mechanical ventilation support.
Patients are primarily diagnosed with STEMI, cardiac arrest, CHF, and post cardiac surgery with CABG, valve replacement, and TAVR.
Our team is trained to support advanced cardiovascular and critical care modalities, including Intra‑aortic Balloon Pumps (IABP), Impella CP 5.0 and RP, LVAD implants with Heartmate 3, Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO), and Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT).
Department:Surgical Trauma Intensive Care Unit (STICU)
The Surgical ICU is equipped with advanced hemodynamic monitoring and state‑of‑the‑art continuous renal replacement technology.
It is the area’s only Level 1 trauma center and pediatric trauma center and is a major referral care center.
Baystate Medical Center's Intensive Care Unit was awarded the Beacon Award for excellence in critical care by the AACN eight times since 2004.
Schedule- Part‑Time Nights, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
- Every other weekend and rotating holidays

- Successfully passed the Board of Registration in Nursing Examination and is licensed in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts
- Current American Heart Association CPR certification required
- Minimum of 2 years RN experience required
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required; BSN preferred
- Basic Life Support – American Heart Association
- Certified Registered Nurse – Other
- Registered Nurse – State of Massachusetts
