- Provide professional nursing care for residents of all ages in long‑term care under the supervision of a registered nurse, advanced practice provider, or physician.
- Demonstrate knowledge of nursing principles for the resident in the relevant clinical setting.
- Demonstrate competency and practice within the full scope of nursing expertise and utilize appropriate age‑ and population‑specific standards related to the physical and psychosocial needs of the resident as per care plan.
- Perform testing to evaluate data reflective of the resident's status and provide the care needed.
- Recognize problems, recommend solutions, and respond effectively to assist in an emergent situation.
- Ensure the health, comfort, and safety of residents.
- Contribute to the assessment of residents and administer medications or treatments as ordered.
- Provide technical support to healthcare professionals as needed.
- Document resident interactions and outcomes related to resident care, medication, behavior, activity, and dietary.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with residents, health‑care providers, and the public.
- Work effectively with professional and supportive personnel as a member of an interdisciplinary care team.
- Communicate clearly and maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
- Counsel residents, family members, and/or resident advocate under the direction of a registered nurse, advanced practice provider, or physician on prevention and treatment plans.
- Apply resident education principles to develop a self‑care program.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Graduate from an accredited practical nursing program as a Licensed Practical Nurse.
- Associate degree in practical nursing is preferred.
- If the position requires IV therapy/management skills, graduation from a Board‑approved ASPN program where IV therapy is part of the curriculum or completion of an IV Therapy course approved by the North Dakota Board of Nursing is required.
- Must have attended a pre‑licensure nursing program that included supervised clinical experience across the life span or have had a minimum of 400 hours of experience as an LPN at another facility.
- Currently holds an unencumbered Licensed Practical Nurse license with a state nursing board and/or possesses multi‑state licensure privileges.
- Obtains and subsequently maintains required department‑specific competencies and certifications.
- Completes required annual continuing education units (CEU) and competency training requirements of the department and facility.
