Job Description & How to Apply Below
Springfield, Massachusetts, United States
Every minute in the Springfield ER, a traveler’s judgment, speed, and calm decide whether a trauma, stroke, or overdose patient leaves stable or not. Medefis places you there—on a high-volume Massachusetts assignment—so the hospital can keep doors open and outcomes high while you own the shift, the board, and the next critical case.
Performance Objectives- Triage and stabilize ESI 1–2 patients within 15 minutes of arrival, achieving 95%+ door-to-provider and door-to-CT targets for stroke and trauma.
- Independently manage 4–6 acute patients per shift, including RSI, massive transfusion, and sepsis bundles, with zero missed critical interventions.
- Cut left-without-being-seen and LWBS rates by supporting throughput: discharge, admit, or transfer 90% of assigned patients within 4 hours.
- Document real-time, complete, and audit-ready notes in Epic so the next provider and quality team have a clear, defensible record.
- Precept and debrief float and new-to-ER staff so the unit maintains competency when census spikes.
- Identify and escalation safety issues (boarding, equipment, staffing) within the shift so leadership can act before the next surge.
You report to the ER Charge/Nurse Manager on a 13-week (extendable) travel contract at a Springfield, MA hospital. You work 12-hour nights or days (36–48 hrs/week) with a full ER team, rapid-response support, and on-site educators. Medefis handles credentialing, housing stipend, and weekly pay so you can focus on patients, not paperwork.
Essential Qualifications- Current MA RN license (or compact + MA endorsement) and 2+ years recent adult ER experience in a comparable-volume trauma or high-acuity ED.
- BLS, ACLS, PALS, and TNCC (or equivalent) current; CEN preferred.
- Proven ability to independently run codes, manage vents, and titrate pressors without constant supervision.
- Comfort with Epic and high-census, high-turnover environments.
- Willingness to float within the ED and take assignment as needed.
- Competitive travel package: weekly pay, tax-free stipends, and Medefis support that actually answers the phone.
- High-acuity, high-volume ER that keeps skills sharp—not a holding-area assignment.
- 13-week blocks with strong extension potential in a region that needs experienced ER travelers.
- One platform (Medefis) for credentialing, time, and pay—less vendor noise, more time at the bedside.
