Baystate Health is seeking an Operations Associate (OA) to join our Emergency Department team at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, Massachusetts. Our Emergency Department team provides care to a diverse adult patient population, working closely with physicians, nurses, and interdisciplinary teams to deliver safe, compassionate, high-quality care.
Operations AssociateResponsibilities Include:
- Bed Management & Patient Flow:
Coordinates admissions, discharges, transfers, bed assignments, patient transport, and discharge readiness; monitors bed status and supports efficient patient throughput. - Clinical & Team Communication:
Serves as a central communication resource for nurses, physicians, case managers, ancillary departments, patients/families, and hospital teams; provides shift handoffs and facilitates timely follow-up. - Administrative & Computer Duties:
Accurately uses hospital systems and maintains patient records, logs, forms, charts, and discharge/transfer documentation. - Unit Support & Staffing:
Assists with staffing assignments, scheduling, coverage, unit projects, and supports Hospitalists and teaching teams with daily operational needs. - Supplies & Unit Operations:
Maintains inventories, orders and charges supplies, restocks unit materials, and ensures required logs and resources are up to date. - Patient & Emergency Support:
Greets new patients/families, assists with inquiries, and initiates emergency procedures and mobilizes appropriate support when needed.
Job Type: Part-Time, 24 hours per week
Shift: Night, 7pm-7:30am
