CMM Technician

Valmet is seeking a skilled CMM Technician to join its Metrology department in Shrewsbury, MA. The technician will be responsible for ensuring that parts and components meet dimensional specifications and support timely production for customers.

• Develop, execute, and maintain CMM programs using PC‑DMIS or FARO CAM2 software.
• Conduct dimensional inspections on castings, metal, and plastic components with CMM devices.
• Measure parts using tools such as verniers, micrometers, thread gauges, optical/digital comparators, and other precision instruments.
• Perform additional inspection tasks as needed, including visual inspections and Positive Material Identification (PMI).
• Document inspection results accurately and review documentation to ensure compliance with engineering drawings and GD&T standards.
• Verify operators’ measurements and assist in providing the proper inspection tools to the shop floor.
• Complete other tasks assigned by the supervisor.

• Associate’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience as a CMM Inspector/Programmer.
• At least 4+ years of experience in CMM programming and inspection, preferably with PC‑DMIS software.
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings and GD&T.
• Strong knowledge of geometry, trigonometry, and use of precision measuring instruments.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with team members, supervisors, and engineers.
