Position Title: Technical Project Sales Representative – Commercial HVAC

The Opportunity

This is a high-impact growth role within a well-established commercial HVAC and plumbing contractor that is intentionally expanding its project sales organization. The individual in this position will play a direct role in shaping the company’s next phase of growth by identifying, developing, and closing complex commercial HVAC and plumbing projects. This role is designed for a technically strong professional—such as a senior technician or project manager—who wants to transition fully into sales and leverage their system knowledge to drive meaningful project opportunities.

The person who succeeds in this role will quickly become a trusted resource in the local market, using technical credibility to uncover retrofit, replacement, and upgrade opportunities while building long-term customer relationships. Success is measured by the ability to penetrate the market, generate project-driven revenue, and establish a sustainable book of business that supports both personal earnings and company growth.

The Company

The company is a well-established commercial HVAC and plumbing contractor with more than 45 years of presence in its local market. It operates exclusively in non-residential environments, serving healthcare, commercial, and industrial customers while deliberately avoiding residential work. This focus allows the company to pursue larger, more complex projects and build long‑term relationships with sophisticated facility owners, engineers, and decision‑makers.

A defining strength of the organization is its fully union workforce and strong relationship with the union hall, which provides reliable access to skilled technicians and consistent execution capability, an advantage not shared by all competitors in the market. The company currently supports its operations with approximately 25 union technicians, is actively expanding its project teams, and is backed by roughly 15 support staff members who enable sales, service, and project execution.

The company was acquired by a private equity group several years ago and is now on a clear growth trajectory. Leadership views this partnership as a catalyst for expansion rather than a cultural reset. Investment is being directed toward scaling project capacity, growing the sales organization, and creating long‑term career opportunities for employees. Internally, the culture is consistently described as family‑oriented, collaborative, and focused on winning together.

Employees care about one another, believe in the direction of the business, and are energized by the opportunity to help build something larger over time.

The Boss

The Technical Project Sales Representative reports directly to the Sales Manager, who is personally leading the expansion of the sales organization. The Sales Manager is hands‑on and intentional about building a balanced, high‑performing team that combines relationship‑driven sellers with technically self‑sufficient sales professionals. This position exists specifically to add a more technical salesperson who can independently drive project opportunities and complement existing team members.

The Sales Manager values individuals who integrate quickly, understand the internal resources available across the organization, and take ownership of their success. While there is a strong expectation for accountability and results, new hires are supported by a deep technical bench and an experienced internal team. The Sales Manager is focused on long‑term development and is looking for someone who wants to build a career, not just close short‑term deals, while helping move the business to its next level.

The

Position

The Technical Project Sales Representative is responsible for selling commercial HVAC and plumbing projects, with a strong emphasis on project‑driven revenue rather than residential or purely maintenance‑based sales. This role requires the ability to independently assess project scope, understand customer needs, and drive opportunities from initial contact through close. While selling service agreements is…
