Job TitleSr. Sales Specialist – Materials Characterization (US‑North East)
LocationRemote positions in CT, MA, NH, NY, RI (territory includes MA, NY, CT, ME, NH, RI, VT). Must reside within the assigned territory and be willing to travel overnight approximately 60% of the time.
Responsibilities- Grow sales volume for the Materials Characterization product portfolio (Molecular Spectroscopy and Thermal Analysis instruments).
- Execute a sales plan aligned with regional and company strategic objectives.
- Manage and expand the current customer base, identify new targeted accounts, and participate in trade shows to improve market share and profitability.
- Develop and implement business plans for each product line, ensuring balanced representation and margin goals.
- Maintain effective time and territory management, present technical information, identify customer needs and trends, and promote Perkin Elmer support services.
- Provide accurate customer information in the company’s CRM, update opportunity funnels, weekly forecasts, and manage the sales funnel to achieve monthly forecasting accuracy.
- Build partnerships with customers and suppliers, recommend solutions, and leverage knowledge of competitive offerings and market dynamics.
- Collaborate with regional sales, service, product specialists, and business units to deliver high‑level customer service.
- Provide product support and local assistance for planned customer events throughout the year.
- Undergraduate degree with 5–8 years of experience, or graduate degree with 3–5 years of experience in Materials Science, Chemistry, or a related field.
- Willingness to travel up to 60% of the time across the territory, including overnight travel.
- Residence within the assigned territory.
- Technical proficiency with scientific instrumentation, particularly Molecular Spectroscopy (FTIR, UV‑Vis‑NIR) and Thermal Analysis (DSC/TGA).
- Experience with consultative sales, identifying customer pain points, and positioning solutions in complex sales cycles.
- Familiarity selling capital equipment to mid‑ and large‑size pharmaceutical companies.
- Strong verbal and negotiation skills, with the ability to build relationships across all organizational levels.
- Basic understanding of CRM systems (Salesforce), sales KPIs, territory planning, and lead generation.
- Ability to manage multiple accounts and opportunities efficiently; prior knowledge of this territory is a plus.
The annual compensation range for this full‑time position is $100,000 to $120,000, with base pay determined by internal equity, location, and qualifications.
