This is a hands‑on technical role within a highly controlled, high‑reliability environment. You’ll be supporting and maintaining a complex enterprise network and firewall estate, operating within a disciplined, structured setting where procedures matter and engineers are trusted to own problems end‑to‑end.

The role is well suited to ex‑military professionals who are comfortable working on secure sites, following defined processes, responding calmly under pressure and contributing as part of a tightly coordinated technical team.

As a Network & Firewall Specialist, you’ll play a key role in keeping critical network services operational and secure.

• Monitoring network and firewall performance and responding to incidents
• Investigating and resolving faults using agreed troubleshooting processes
• Installing, configuring and supporting switches, firewalls and associated services
• Acting as a technical interface with project teams, users and third parties
• Supporting capacity, availability and resilience planning
• Producing clear technical documentation and low‑level designs when required
• Provisioning network devices and services in line with change processes
• Escalating risks or delivery concerns early and clearly

This role includes participation in an on‑call rota and occasional out‑of‑hours support where operational priorities demand it.

• Juniper switching and firewall platforms (EX, QFX, SRX, virtual firewalls)
• High‑availability and clustered network designs
• Enterprise routing (BGP, OSPF), WAN/LAN infrastructure
• Secure network segmentation (VRFs, GRE tunnels, EVPN/VXLAN)
• Identity and access controls (RADIUS / 802.1X environments)
• PKI, certificates and encrypted communications
• Monitoring and observability tools
• Core network services (DNS, DHCP, IP address management)

Hands‑on experience installing and supporting switches and firewalls in complex environments is essential.

• Solid fundamentals in networking and structured fault‑finding
• Proven experience working with Juniper‑based network environments
• Confidence installing, configuring and supporting network and firewall devices
• Experience operating within large, complex or regulated infrastructures
• Clear communication skills with both technical and non‑technical stakeholders
• A calm, methodical approach when dealing with incidents and outages
• High standards around documentation, security and operational discipline
• Data centre exposure or experience with other major network vendors is advantageous, but depth of hands‑on experience matters most

Fully on‑site role.

Occasional travel to remote locations may be required.

Flexibility to support evenings or weekends in exceptional circumstances.
