Position Overview
Armed Security Transportation Officer – Springfield, MA. Salary: $33.61 USD per hour.
Key Responsibilities- Perform transportation duties per PBNDS Standards and Training.
- Document all detainee transport and safeguard detainee records and possessions. Provide trip documentation to the Transportation Coordinator in a timely manner.
- Notify Operations Supervisor, Transportation Coordinator and/or Project Manager of any route variations.
- Obtain required detainee documentation from the transferring facility/agency prior to departure.
- Maintain assigned vehicle maintenance and service records in corresponding binders.
- Report any safety‑related transportation issues immediately; complete a vehicle repair order and deliver it to the Supervisor in charge of Fleet Management.
- Conduct pre‑trip vehicle inspections on the assigned vehicle before departure.
- Ensure all required equipment (first aid kit, insurance card, flares, security devices, etc.) is present in the vehicle.
- Report for work at the scheduled time assigned by Operations Supervisor daily.
- If assigned to a stationary guard post (e.g., hospital duty), comply with Post Orders and hospital protocol.
- Ensure possession of guard card, weapons permit, ICE , Company , and medical card (if applicable) at all times.
- Complete post‑vehicle check after assignment.
- Forward gas receipts to the Supervisor in charge of Fleet Management.
- Report accidents, incidents, and injuries related to transportation duties; complete required incident reports prior to departure.
- Complete a Record of Presence (ROP), equipment and key sign‑in/out sheets, and all associated daily paperwork.
- Maintain a valid Armed Guard/Firearms permit and pass periodic firearms recertification.
- Certify proficiency every quarter; training includes Use of Force, Tactics, Weapon Safety, and Range Qualifications.
- Recertify with issued duty handgun at intervals set by federal or state requirements; achieve a minimum score of 200 or 80% out of 250 points (or meet state mandates).
- High School Diploma.
- Current federal background investigation and access (or ability to obtain).
- Minimum two (2) years as a Law Enforcement Officer and/or Military Police Officer, or six (6) months as a security officer handling detainees, or two (2) years active‑duty military service with an honorable discharge.
- Clear oral and written communication.
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and data entry.
- Effective organizational skills.
- Valid Wear Carry Permit for the site‑specific state.
- Valid Security Guard Certification for the site‑specific state.
- Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) for the state of residence.
- USDOT Medical Card (for CDL holders).
- Current federal background investigation and access (or ability to obtain).
- Active Public Trust clearance.
- Pass pre‑employment drug screening.
- Maintain acceptable background check results.
- Obtain and maintain required Federal Government clearance and access to military installations (if applicable).
- Pass pre‑hire and random drug tests and physicals.
- Valid Driver’s License for the state of residence.

Duty and Safety ClassificationThis position is not subject to federal Department of Transportation safety‑sensitive requirements.
Physical RequirementsMust maintain constant mental alertness and situational awareness. The role may involve bending, stooping, sitting, walking, or standing for prolonged periods. Physical condition is required for operating a vehicle with limited opportunity for movement. Reasonable accommodation may be provided for individuals with disabilities.
Work EnvironmentTransportation vehicle duty as driver or passenger, maintaining safety and security of detainees. Exposure to individuals with unknown medical histories may involve contact with potentially contagious airborne or blood borne pathogens. Long‑distance travel may require overnight hotel stays due to on‑duty hours restrictions.
