Job Title

Locomotive Electrician

West Wareham, MA – will travel to project sites as required.

• Perform testing and troubleshoot electrical and pneumatic systems.
• Read electrical and pneumatic schematics.
• Operate electrical test equipment.
• Design basic electrical circuits.
• Install electrical components.
• Run and terminate wiring.
• Cut, crimp, and install cabling.
• Pull wire harnessed through conduit.
• Drill and tap holes.
• Clean, sandblast and paint old parts.
• Disassemble and assemble locomotive parts and subassemblies.
• Understand and apply FRA rules (training provided).
• Interact with customers (minimal) and collaborate with teammates.

• Five years of experience building and/or maintaining heavy equipment and strong understanding of locomotive maintenance and repair; manufacturing experience a plus.
• Preferred experience with diesel engines, propulsion and pneumatics in large industry sectors such as rail, agriculture, mining, or marine.
• Ability to read and comprehend instructions, write simple correspondence, and present information effectively in one‑on‑one and small group settings.
• Mathematical skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, rate, ratio, percentage calculations and interpreting bar graphs.
• Reasoning ability to apply instructions in written, oral or diagram form and handle problems with several concrete variables in standardized situations.
• Physical capability to lift or move up to 50 pounds, work in awkward positions, and use hands and arms frequently.
• Close, color, peripheral and depth vision as well as ability to adjust focus.

The position requires frequent use of hands, standing, walking, climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling. Work may involve exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes, airborne particles, hazardous chemicals, extreme temperatures, electrical shock, vibrations and noise levels above 85 decibels; hearing protection and other personal protective equipment will be required.

Hourly pay range: $30.00 – $35.00. Salary is based on training, experience, education, business needs and location. Benefits include health, welfare and retirement plans. Additional benefits such as annual bonus may be offered.
