Service Technician

Job Summary

We are seeking a driven entry‑level tradesperson to join our Dental Service team.

• Install and repair dental equipment independently, performing basic core equipment installs and repairs.
• Safely remove, modify, repair, and install all core dental equipment with minimal supervision.
• Inspect pre‑installed products for defects or damages, and conduct final post‑installation inspections for proper operation.
• Follow basic installation procedures and jobsite protocol.
• Maintain all service records accurately and ensure safe transportation and delivery of products to customer locations.
• Verify manufacturer and Patterson guidelines, OSHA and other applicable laws and regulations related to asepsis are followed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Respond to customer needs in a timely and professional manner.
• Demonstrate a people‑first approach by treating customers with respect and consideration, and maintain relationships through follow‑up and courteous interactions.

• Understand and convey information to customers clearly.
• Listen attentively and ask questions when necessary.
• Explain technical aspects of using technology to a non‑technical audience using general terminology.

• Problem‑solving skills: anticipate problems and troubleshoot install and repair issues to meet customer needs.

• Inventory management: determine parts, supplies, or tools needed to complete service requests and restock vehicle inventory as necessary.
• Personal/vehicle safety: maintain a quality driving record, represent Patterson Dental while driving company vehicles, and schedule regular vehicle maintenance.

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 1–2 years of comparable Patterson service experience or equivalent experience.
• Successfully completed Basic Install Certification through the Patterson Technical Academy and ability to be Patterson Certified within six months of employment.
• Mechanical aptitude.
• Strong work ethic and ownership of both company and customer goals/objectives.
• Focused on understanding, meeting, and exceeding customer expectations.
• Ability to thrive in an independent role.
• Basic computer skills and/or ability to use smartphone/tablet.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Valid driver’s license with a good driving record.

• Trade school training in carpentry, plumbing, heating, electricity, or electronics (highly desirable).
• Excellent organization and problem‑solving skills.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Teams.

• Remain in a stationary or driving position up to 100% of the day.
• Lift boxes and dental supplies weighing 1–25 pounds up to 75% of the day.
• Install/maintain dental equipment under cabinets or equipment up to 50% of the day.
• Reach at shoulder level and waist level up to 25% of the day.
• Move or lift equipment and supplies weighing 26–49 pounds up to 5% of the day, up to 100 pounds up to 5% of the day, and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds into place less than 5% of the day.
• Climb steps and ladders less than 5% of the day.

Travel to customer locations and provide services and support.

The potential compensation range for this role is $27.79 – $36.12 per hour. The final offer amount could exceed this range based on factors such as candidate location, experience, and skills.
