The Type of Engineer We're Hoping To Meet
Someone who has owned part of a robot that left the lab, entered the field, and was expected to perform reliably when it mattered.
We're looking for a roboticist first and a perception engineer second. The strongest candidates will have worked in demanding robotics environments and contributed to systems that ultimately reached real-world deployment on physical robots.
A well-funded robotics company is building the next generation of intelligent autonomous systems already operating in customer environments. As the team scales, we're looking for an engineer who enjoys owning difficult technical problems end-to-end across sensing, software, deployment, validation, and system integration.
This role is ideal for someone who has helped take robots from development through testing, deployment, troubleshooting, and real-world operation.
What You'll Work On- Develop and improve perception and sensing infrastructure for deployed robotic systems.
- Work across cameras, RGBD sensors, LiDAR, point clouds, calibration, synchronization, and data pipelines.
- Collaborate closely with robotics, autonomy, hardware, software, and AI teams.
- Diagnose complex issues spanning hardware, firmware, networking, software, and robot behavior.
- Build tooling, validation workflows, monitoring systems, and test infrastructure.
- Improve reliability, scalability, and performance of robots operating in customer environments.
- Solve whatever the robot needs next, rather than staying within a narrowly defined ownership area.
- Built, integrated, tested, and deployed real robotic systems.
- Worked on products that operated outside the lab.
- Owned meaningful subsystems rather than isolated algorithms.
- Experience with robotics software, sensing systems, autonomy, deployed perception, validation, simulation, infrastructure, controls, or systems engineering.
- Strong C++ and/or Python experience.
- Worked in environments where technical standards and ownership expectations were exceptionally high.
- You'd rather debug a real robot than publish a paper.
- You enjoy understanding how entire systems work, not just one component.
- You're comfortable moving between software, sensors, hardware, and operations.
- You've spent time making robots reliable enough for real users.
- You like solving messy, real-world engineering problems.
