Responsible for assisting in the daily operations of all a municipal Golf Course and Golf Shop. Responsible for promoting an exceptional golf experience and providing excellent services and programs for all patrons. Work is performed with considerable latitude for the exercise of independent judgment and decision-making under direction of the Golf Course Manager. Supervision is exercised over others.

This posting is for positions at both the Veteran's Memorial Golf Course and Franconia Golf Course.
  • Assists Golf Course Manager in the administration, interpretation, and enforcement of all course rules and policies that govern the use of the course, golf carts, and other golf-related activities.
  • Responsible for recruiting, hiring, training and supervising and seasonal golf course employees.
  • Assists in scheduling and payroll for Golf Course Attendants.
  • Responsible for the booking, guidance, consultation and administration of all daily play, golf leagues,tournaments, Men's and Women's Club tournaments, group outings and events.
  • Communicates regularly with all staff and promotes a positive environment for both employees and guests.
  • Assists Golf Course Manager in implementing procedures in accordance with policies which maximize the quality and quantity of services to the golfing public and thereby obtain optimal revenues from operations
  • Assists as needed with the daily operations of the Golf Shop.
  • Periodically surveys guest to determine any program or course related issues and suggestions.
  • Assists with monitoring and performing daily POS system closings, reconciliation of daily sales, preparing daily cash reports, bank deposits, credit card sales administration and maintaining up to date daily sales statistics, and recording daily sales in the city's accounting software
  • Assists with the financial reconciliation and record keeping of all refunds, league certificates, gift card balances, and account credit.
  • Under supervision of the Golf Course Manager prepares annual purchase orders, requisitions equipment, merchandise for resale, and supplies in accordance with established City purchasing procedures and budget limitations
  • Provides advice on course conditions, maintenance practices, playability and tournaments.
  • Oversees functions of the weekly leagues; serves as a staff contact to ensure the smooth operation of the weekly leagues.
  • Uses golf knowledge to serve as a consultant to players, tournament organizers, and other interested parties.
  • Coordinates written correspondence, reporting, newsletters and communications for golf programs and events.
  • Direct and indirect supervision, as assigned and directed by the Golf Course Manager, over seasonal Golf Course Attendants.
  • Performs related work as required.
  • Considerable knowledge of the game of golf, rules of golf, golf facility operations and golf tournaments.
  • Considerable knowledge of the principles of course management, and maintenance.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations associated with golf course maintenance and play.
  • Strong organizational, planning and prioritization skills.
  • Service and customer focused attitude.
  • Strong leadership and customer service skills.
  • Ability to enforce golf course facility’s rules and regulations firmly, tactfully, and impartially.
  • Maintain and promote a positive professional image within the community.
  • Maintain a credible golf game and remain current on teaching innovations.
  • Ability to develop and maintain a department budget.
  • Ability to express oneself clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, municipal officials, and the general public.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of golf course management, recreation facility, or business administration experience.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of supervisory experience including training, supervising, and motivating assigned personnel.
