Job Description
This position involves delivering products, including hazardous materials, to customers from Sherwin-Williams stores using box and flat-bed trucks. The driver must ensure deliveries are complete, properly packed, safely delivered to the correct customer, and maintain excellent customer service. The selected individual will work at Store #5413, located at 90 Carando Drive, Springfield, MA 01104.
Responsibilities- Ensure deliveries are prepared to meet customer requirements in the most efficient manner.
- Load customer orders properly onto the truck.
- Complete appropriate forms and documentation for each delivery.
- Transport and deliver items to customers safely and on time.
- Maintain the store vehicle and alert the supervisor to repair and servicing needs.
- Provide excellent customer service, answer questions, and handle complaints.
- Follow assigned routes and time schedules.
- Adhere to all transportation laws and maintain a safe driving record.
- Prepare reports and other documents related to deliveries.
- Operate equipment and machines such as trucks, forklifts, etc.
- Perform additional tasks in the store, including warehouse duties, tinting, and mixing customer orders.
Because this role involves contact with customers, access to cash and payment methods, electronic equipment, personal information, store merchandise, and other items of value, the company requires a review of criminal history to protect its operations, customers, staff, vendors, contractors, and the general public.
QualificationsMinimum Requirements
- At least 21 years of age.
- Legally authorized to work in the United States without needing sponsorship now or in the future.
- Valid, unrestricted Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with a hazardous materials endorsement.
- Valid Medical Examiner’s Certificate (MEC) from a Department of Transportation (Use the "Apply for this Job" box below). medical examiner listed on the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) National Registry, or willing to obtain one within five business days of a conditional offer.
- Physically able to retrieve material from shelves and floor stacks and lift up to 50 lbs. frequently and up to 70 lbs. occasionally.
- Willing to work all scheduled hours, including evenings and weekends.
- Read, speak, and write English sufficiently to converse with the public, understand highway traffic signs and signals, respond to official inquiries, and record reports.
- If internal to Sherwin-Williams, at least a “meets expectations” (3) rating on the most recent performance appraisal.
- If internal to Sherwin-Williams, completed all required HR Cloud eLearning courses for the current position.
- High school diploma or GED.
- At least one year of experience as a delivery driver.
- At least one year of experience operating material handling equipment (e.g., forklifts, pallet jacks, hand trucks, order pickers, vacu-hoists, drum dollies, conveyor belts).
- Previous experience selling paint and paint-related products.
- Ability to read, write, comprehend, and communicate in more than one language, particularly Spanish.
